According to NeoWin, the improvements are present in version 2301.1001.5.0 of the Xbox app for Windows for those participating in Insider tests. In this version, the sidebar displays notifications about recent updates, games, achievements, and invitations.
The home screen has also been optimized to show more relevant information regarding Game Pass and EA Game Trials, so subscribers won’t miss out on opportunities to try out Electronic Arts games and discover the latest additions to Game Pass.
Other items in this version also include adjustments to improve the readability of fonts, corrections for bugs that did not show the size of a game after being installed and content in the Game Pass tab, in addition to bugs that prevented the application from functioning properly.
Unfortunately there is still an issue in this version where some items fail to display when the Xbox app is opened with the high contrast theme turned on in Windows. The solution is to choose another theme when using the app.
