WhatsApp is currently one of the most used instant messaging applications worldwide. This was first launched for small screens (smartphones), but its popularity forced it to reach more platforms and formats.

Now, we can welcome the arrival of WhatsApp on Apple computers. Indeed, it is already possible to install the native application of the platform owned by Meta on equipment with macOS.

WhatsApp arrives on macOS in public beta

It is important to note, however, that this WhatsApp app for macOS is currently in beta. However, Meta has opened this experimental phase of its new application to the public, which means that you can already install it on your Mac.

WhatsApp macOS

This application can be downloaded directly from the official WhatsApp website. This application will be compatible with any product using the Big Sur version of macOS or above.

Before downloading the new WhatsApp application for macOS, it is important to underline its experimental nature. This public beta phase will allow Meta to assess the behavior of its application and correct any bugs that may threaten the user experience of its app.

To this end, users are made aware of the fact that this application is subject to instabilities and some operating errors. If you want to install the new WhatsApp native app on your macOS, keep in mind that you may encounter some errors.

If you don’t want to subject yourself to these errors, you can always continue using WhatsApp Web on your Apple computer. This is already an alternative for Mac users to use this platform on their computer and it will remain operational even with the availability of a native app.

Will iPadOS be WhatsApp’s next target?

The arrival of WhatsApp natively on macOS opens the door for the same to happen on iPadOS. This is because the application now available in beta was developed on the Mac Catalyst Framework.

This tool makes it easier to run the same app on macOS and iPadOS. Indeed, even though Apple or Meta have not spoken on the subject, it is already speculated that this app may soon also be made available for the iPad.
