The PS5 version runs in 4K at 60 fps – just like the PS4 backward compatible version. There are no content extensions or graphic improvements, but the DLC packages now included as standard should sweeten the deal a bit, buyers of the disc version also get a mini art book and a soundtrack excerpt on CD.
You can argue about the sense and nonsense of this port (which is incompatible with the PS4 brother in terms of score) – but at least you have the complete and optimal version, and in terms of content and gameplay Ys VIII still a showpiece adventure.
“Ys VIII” still scores in 2022 with fast action, likeable characters and an outstanding soundtrack.
