In February, the big streaming providers take it easy. This also affects the new releases – there are not many of them. Instead, some of the bigger movies of the past year will be streamed, including Black Panther 2: Wakanda forever (February 1, Disney +). Also featured are The Black Phone (February 17, Sky/Wow), Bleach Seasons 1-16 (February 15, Disney+) and Massive Talent (February 25, Sky/Wow). In addition, the following titles look quite interesting:
Carnival Row Season 2 (February 17, Amazon Prime)
Amazon Prime: What’s Next for Rycroft and His Beloved Vignette? Source: Amazon Like numerous other projects, the second and final season of Carnival Row suffered from the corona pandemic. That’s why it took a while for Amazon to put it on its streaming platform and hopefully answer some of the unanswered questions from Season 1. Picard, Season 3 (February 17, Amazon Prime)
Even if the reviews from the fans have been rather mixed so far, Starfleet retiree Jean-Luc Picard is allowed to fly into space one last time. There are not only new adventures and threats to be mastered in the series finale, but also many old friends from Star Trek: The Next Generation to be seen again. Among other things, Jean-Luc’s old crush Beverly Crusher.
Everything, Everywhere, all at Once (20. Februar, Sky/Wow)
Amazon Prime: After three seasons, it’s time to say goodbye to Captain Jean Luc Picard. Source: Amazon Prime Video For many, the surprise hit with Michelle Yeoh was the cinema highlight of 2022 – or at least the best film about the multiverse that has existed so far. In the film, Yeoh plays laundromat owner Evelyn Quan, who struggles with the IRS, her divorce, and her daughter. To make matters worse, she discovers that there is a multiverse, albeit one that is on the brink of extinction. Only Evelyn can save the many parallel worlds – however, it is not entirely clear whether Launderette Evelyn is the right version for the job.
The swarm (February 22, ZDF media library)
The film adaptation of Frank Schätzing’s bestseller was actually announced for March, but ZDF has now decided to show its major project in February. As natural disasters multiply and wildlife rebel against humanity, a group of scientists discovers that humans may not be the only intelligent creatures on earth. But the alien intelligence attempting to take over the world is unlike anything mankind has known before.
