Just two days ago, we announced bad news related to the release of the highly anticipated The Day Before, a title inspired by the flagship license of Naughty Dog and Ubisoft’s The Division. This enticing mix made PC gamers dream, adding it en masse to their Steam wishlist. However, the developers’ repeatedly pushed back promises have broken something in the relationship with players who increasingly think that this online shooter smacks of fraud.

The false good news of the MMO à la The Last of Us
There you go, one more postponement for The Day Before ! After skipping the past twelve months, the post-apocalyptic online shooter is cutting out a major part of the 2023 calendar, as the developers recently announced with a statement posted on social media. However, the latest communications around the title seemed rather reassuring since we had the right to a small sequence of gameplayenhanced by the capabilities of Nvidia technologies, and we were also promised another very soon.
The supposed good news had fallen in the middle of January, but it only took another week for the atmosphere around the game to change completely. On January 25, the developers of Fntastic have announced that due to legal issues related to “The Day Before” trademark the game will not be able to honor its March 1, 2023 release date. Because of this, the title which will run under Unreal Engine 5 operates a large facial gap to henceforth consider an exit window set for next November. On the side of the players, we are starting to get annoyed by these repeated reports and we have less and less confidence in the words of the studio.
The Day Before, an Abandoned scam?
If they expected sympathy from the players, it is an outcry that the teams of Fntastic have harvested. On social networks, players are getting annoyed and finding it increasingly difficult to believe the statements of the development studio. Especially since some have done their little research to discover that there was not really any trace of this trademark conflict. With the IGN site, the co-founders of the Fntastic studio provided more details on this more than substantial report. According to them, the announcement of the postponement had been planned for some time and they intended to reveal this umpteenth discrepancy when the new gameplay trailer was broadcast.
We understand that some players, unable to visualize all aspects of the game, may have doubts about the title (…) We have always focused on the product itself. We’ve been making the game for four years. All those years have gone through sweat and blood to make this game, and for many members of our team, it’s unpleasant to hear such accusations. We didn’t take a penny from people: no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations. The game is fully funded by Mytona, one of the largest mobile publishers in the world, who verified the build of the game at every major milestone as per our contract.
The Day Before, une arnaque ? The Fntastic studio reiterates that this is not the case and tries to provide sufficient justification to calm the discontent of the players. As for the new gameplay presentation, the devs didn’t give any further details on its release, just saying it would be shared “as soon as possible”, and have to deal with the disappearance of the game’s page on Steam. Will the game definitely evaporate? We can’t wait to find out if the promises will be kept or if the game is heading towards the same fate as the Abandoned fiasco.
