The studio Naughty Dog has shown a golden touch with some games. The “Uncharted” and “The Last of Us” series inspire countless fans around the world. However, it is not yet certain how the PlayStation hits will continue.
In a recent interview with Buzzfeed, co-president Neil Druckmann opened up about the two franchises. Despite the success, they don’t want to and won’t let themselves be put under pressure by Sony to develop a sequel. With “Uncharted” it would already be said what needs to be told – whether there will be a sequel at some point is left completely open by the studio.
However, the studio is currently concentrating on The Last of Us. While The Last of Us Part III isn’t impossible, the developers are currently focusing on the upcoming multiplayer game.
“We’ve been pretty open about the fact that the next Last of Us game will be a multiplayer experience where you can dive into the world of The Last of Us with a friend and experience the excitement and brutality of that world – and a brand new one Story and a set of characters living in another city that we haven’t seen in the world of The Last of Us. This will be another chapter in The Last of Us universe.”
As for the sequel to The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog will be sticking to its roots:
“If we can develop a compelling story that has a universal message and a statement about love – as was the case with the first and second games – then we will tell that story. If we can’t think of anything, we’ll have a very strong ending with part 2,” says Druckmann.
