In the summer, Nintendo warned against using the Nintendo Switch hybrid console in high temperatures. However, now in winter, players should beware of condensation.
Through its Japanese Twitter account, Nintendo has now called on Nintendo Switch users to watch out for condensation on the console. If the problem occurs, the device should be turned off completely and not just put into sleep mode. Oddly enough, the warning doesn’t come until around six years after the Switch launched.
Nintendo is worried about condensation
Nintendo advises players to watch out for water droplets on or on their Nintendo Switch, as rapid temperature changes could damage the console. If users discover moisture on their device, they should turn off their switch completely and move it to a warmed room. Players should leave the device in the room and wait for the condensation to dry. Nintendo currently seems concerned about players taking their consoles out of heated buildings into the cold winter air and vice versa.
In the Twitter post, Nintendo also points out instructions for completely shutting down the switch. The device can be put into sleep mode via the Nintendo Switch dashboard. However, players can press the power button for three seconds and then turn off the console in the pop-up menu. Alternatively, you can also force the system to shut down by pressing and holding the power button for around twelve seconds.
More news on the subject:
As recently as summer, Nintendo had prior to using its hybrid console warned at high temperatures. So users should refrain from playing the Nintendo Switch at temperatures above 35 degrees. Adequate ventilation should also be ensured. Even then, Nintendo had indicated that the console should not get too cold. The temperature shouldn’t fall below five degrees while gaming.
