After Russia was cut off from purchases of Boeing and Airbus civilian aircraft last year, the domestic aviation industry has faced a cyclopean task: to ensure that Russian airlines no longer depend on the supply of Western aircraft and parts for them. The process is going on, and in the absence of another way out, it will only go at an increasing speed. Now domestic aircraft factories are preparing or have already begun mass production of such civilian airliners as the MS-21, SSJ-New, Tu-214 and others, but one of the first new aircraft will be received by the Aeroflot airline, which last year concluded with the United Aircraft Building corporation (UAC) an agreement on the supply of 339 aircraft until 2030 inclusive.
Thus, as Aeroflot CEO Sergei Aleksandrovsky clarified in an interview with RIA Novosti journalists, by 2030 the airline’s fleet will consist of 70% domestic airliners. The first two SSJ-New aircraft will be handed over to Aeroflot in December this year, and the first MS-21 at the end of 2024.
Aleksandrovsky added that the ratio of the shares of domestic and imported aircraft may change during the operation of the air fleet: today, Aeroflot proceeds from a conservative forecast for the number of aircraft fleet of 500 units, but if the number of imported aircraft increases in the future, then the target the share of domestic aircraft can be adjusted.
