After fans had to wait many years for the release of Dead Island 2, the sequel to the title that was once indexed in Germany is almost at the door. After all, the sequel is scheduled to be released on April 28th for PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Accordingly, bit by bit there is more information and material about the upcoming game from Dambuster Studios. Creative Director James Worrall and Lead Narrative Designer Ayesha Khan recently answered 86 questions about Dead Island 2 on Game Informer’s YouTube channel.
Skill deck as a new feature
The discussion of the so-called “skill deck” attracted a lot of attention. Finally, when asked in the video if there would be a skill tree in the game, Khan responds by saying, “There is a skill deck, which is even better.”
In a later question, Worrall and Khan confirmed that the skill deck is possibly the most exciting addition to the game. The game director David Stenton had previously explained the concept in “PLAY” magazine. The feature should give the players the opportunity to customize skills in the form of cards during the fight. As Worrall and Khan point out to Game Informer, this can also happen in the air, for example.
In August we already had the opportunity to try out the game including the card system. In the 86-question video, Worrall and Khan also confirm that Dead Island 2 (buy now €59.99) is set ten years after the first part and is scheduled to start in Los Angeles. Fans can look forward to customizable card decks and a virtual trip to California, among other things.
