Ukrainian jumper Evgeny Marusyak took 26th place at the World Cup in Tauplitz, Austria. In the first round, he repeated his own Ukrainian record (210 meters), in the second attempt he flew 200 meters.
With this, Marusyak set several more historical achievements for Ukrainian jumps. He scored the first points for Ukraine at the World Cup since February 3, 2010, when Vitaliy Shumbarets became 28th at the stage in Klingenthal, Germany. 4743 days have passed since then.
Marusyak’s 26th place is Ukraine’s second best result at the World Cup. Only the same Shumbarets rose higher on January 17, 2010: 21st place in Japanese Sapporo.
At the same time, Marusyak is the first Ukrainian in history to score points on flying jumps.
The victory in today’s competition was won by the leader of the World Cup, Halvor Egner Granerud. He was ahead of Slovenian Timi Zajc and Austrian Stefan Kraft.
