The most important things summarized:
The Samsung Galaxy A51 is still a very popular smartphone. However, the device is almost three years old – so buying a new one is no longer worthwhile for many For a few euros more you can get significantly better smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy A33 (see below)
The Samsung Galaxy A51 was launched in early 2020 and scored well in the test with strong values in the mid-range segment. Above all, the battery and the display convinced us at the time. Samsung also promised four years of security updates and two Android upgrades, which is exemplary in the short-lived smartphone world. So owners of the smartphone are still well supplied with the smartphone.
However, we would now advise against buying a new one, at least if you want to use the smartphone for a longer period of time. Because with Android 13, the Galaxy A51 has probably received its last upgrade and the security updates will end in 2024. In a year at the latest, you will no longer get support for the device.
The current model, the Galaxy A53, is better in every way. However, it currently costs almost twice as much. Our alternative recommendation for anyone who wants to stay with Samsung is therefore the Galaxy A33. Depending on the supply situation, you pay 40 euros to 80 euros more for the A33. But you also get a smartphone that will be supported for a long time and is technically clearly superior to the A51. Find out more about the Galaxy A33 below.
