Barotrauma is a cooperative sci-fi submarine simulator. It has been plodding its way through the murky depths of Early Access for the past three years, but is now gearing up for a 1.0 release this spring. Preparation in this case means a “pre-patch” with “final fixes and changes” that the development team wanted to make before release day and the price increase two weeks later.
“For many players, the most noteworthy additions in this patch are the reworked poisons and status effects,” it says. in the patch notes on Steam. The bad news, according to the developers, is that these changes will break some mods – although they hope that the creators of these mods will have a chance to fix the situation before the release of version 1.0.
The changes to poisons really seem to be significant: they can now be used on monsters, and the effect of poisoning has become more diverse.
“In preparation for the release of 1.0, we’re going to be pricing Barotrauma on Steam in two weeks, on February 10th,” the post reads. Steam is currently 80% off to “give everyone one last good opportunity to purchase the game before 1.0 is released.” It is not reported what the new price of Barotrauma will be after the change.
