Having shown great work in the world of action films as director of each part of John Wick, which will soon release the fourth part, Chad Stahelski is preparing to take on one of the biggest challenges of his career by adapting one of the most popular games for the PlayStation: Ghost of Tsushima .
Announced in 2021, the film is progressing steadily in development. In addition, the director confirmed that the shooting will take place in Japan with the main characters of the same nationality.
TotalFilm recently had a chance to chat with the director during a commercial for John Wick 4, and he gave some details on the current state of Ghost of Tsushima:
Ghost of Tsushima would be my favorite next movie. Without going into crazy details, I’m very interested in this. We have a really great script. He has a very good creative team behind him. We also spend a lot of time finishing all the business part of pre-production. It’s kind of a little flow, a kind of movement where we do our best to make a good movie. Now we have a great script in our hands and we need to select the cast.
And while that sounds like bad news, Stahelski also offered some hope to fans anticipating the film:
Obviously, “Ghost” is a special project. Everyone understands this. Everyone wants to do it, with the introduction of new technologies and a new way of creating an epic samurai atmosphere. It’s just that there are a lot of things that need to be put together before we really pull the trigger, mostly from my creative side. And we’re in that process right now, trying to put everything together to make it great.
