American actress Annie Wersching has lost her battle with cancer. She was 45 years old.
As an actress, Annie Wersching was involved in countless TV series. And she also played an important role in a well-known video game: In “The Last of Us” from 2013 she played the smuggler Tess, who initially accompanied the protagonist duo.
After she was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2020, she died yesterday of her serious illness. Exactly on this day the third episode of the “The Last of Us” adaptation was released, which is currently running on Sky and WOW. As in the game, her character can be seen alongside Joel and Ellie. However, Tess is portrayed in the series by Anna Torv.
Druckmann and Mazin point to a fundraiser
Neil Druckmann, the lead developer of the highly acclaimed action-adventure, has of course not escaped the horror news. He wrote the following on Twitter:

At the end of his post, he refers to a fundraiser that will benefit Annie Wersching’s family. More specifically, the money raised will go to her sons aged 12, 9 and 4. According to the current status, 143,264 US dollars have already been raised. The fundraising goal is $250,000.
Craig Mazin, the showrunner of The Last of Us, also made one Reddit post attention to the donation link. He also writes, among other things: “Even though the HBO series is a new version of The Last of Us, our stories, worlds and lives are inseparable. We are now a blended TLOU family and when tragedy strikes we all feel it.”
