Release delays are often more the rule than the exception in the video game world. Nintendo, however, is better known for complying with originally planned releases comparatively often – although not always of course. A negative example would be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which will finally be released for the Switch in May of this year, but should have been released much earlier. Another example of a release delay is a Nintendo classic that was originally supposed to be released for the switch in 2021 – but Nintendo postponed the release twice, most recently indefinitely. But now the release should actually be very close.
Nintendo fans discover release note
At least that’s what resourceful Nintendo fans who took a closer look at the Nintendo Switch eShop (buy now €339.00) report. In the game entry for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, they discovered a small innovation that indicates the upcoming release of the Nintendo classic.
Nintendo delayed release several times
Originally, the new edition of the two popular Nintendo classics from the Game Boy Advance should have been released as a remake bundle in December 2021. The release was pushed back to spring 2022. But then Nintendo decided again to postpone the supposedly completely finished game, indefinitely. The reason: Russia’s war against Ukraine, which began at the end of February 2022.
Two Nintendo classics for the Switch
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a bundle with revised new editions of two Nintendo classics for the Game Boy Advance from the years 2001 and 2003, in which the fictional war is the focus of the turn-based tactical game. Not too surprising, given that the word is even in the title. Apparently, Nintendo felt it was inappropriate to release such a Switch game while Russia is invading its neighboring country Ukraine.

Switch release is likely to be forthcoming
The addition to the Switch eShop is a hint that pre-orders should start soon. Usually, Nintendo starts pre-orders a few months before the release of a Switch game – hence the assumption that the release should be imminent. This assumption is also supported by new product entries in various online shops, including Amazon Mexico and Canada, Walmart, Best Buy and EB Games.
