To while away the wait until the official theatrical release, Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment have released a new teaser trailer for the animated film Super Mario Bros. Movie. It’s not very extensive, but it has some new scenes that are definitely worth a closer look.

The focus of the new Super Mario Bros. Movie teaser trailer is on a fight scene with Mario and Donkey Kong, as you can already see it from the big trailer of the animated film. This is an homage to the duel between Thor and Hulk from the MCU blockbuster Thor: Day of Decision. The teaser just released includes some new scenes from this confrontation that takes place in a huge arena. For the first time you get to see Mario in a fluffy cat costume, which he receives by activating a special block. Chris Pratt even says “meow” as cat Mario – a bit bizarre! You’ll also hear the voice of Hollywood actor Seth Rogen, who dubbed Donkey Kong the monkey in the original for the first time.

What you need to know about Super Mario Bros. Movie
After a long wait, the animated film Super Mario Bros. Movie is scheduled to hit German cinemas on March 23, 2023. Of course, the story revolves around the famous video game hero Mario, who is tasked with saving the Mushroom Kingdom from the evil Bowser. He experiences numerous adventures that are accompanied by many allusions to the game templates. This includes not only one or the other homage to the classic jump & run interludes, but even fast-paced races based on Mario Kart.
