Edition Game Informer published an interview with the developers Dead Island 2, in which demonstrates FLESH – a system that allows you to inflict realistic injuries using procedural generation.
Every zombie in the game can be dismembered in the most natural way, from inflicting simple wounds and tearing arteries to crushing bones and tearing off limbs. The longer you hit, the more bloody mess.
FLESH works the same way on different enemy models, with larger zombies dropping more innards, for example. As for the variety of damage, it was achieved through different types of weapons.
