“The Dark Pictures Switchback VR” has a special feature on the virtual reality headset PlayStation VR2 that can add more spooky atmosphere. It is featured in a video posted to Twitter.
“The Dark Pictures Switchback VR” will be released a little later than planned. But players can apparently prepare for a special kind of horror experience. This is indicated by a new video presenting one of the features of the virtual reality game.
In a previous message we already reported that the opponents in “The Dark Pictures Switchback VR” respond to player blinks, made possible by PlayStation VR2’s innovative eye-tracking. Eye tracking is not only required for foveated rendering, which renders only the areas the player is looking at in high-resolution quality. Interactions in the game world are also possible.
keep your eyes open
In the case of The Dark Pictures Switchback VR, this means that players who blink their eyes should not expect the game world or the elements within it to be unchanged afterwards. In the video example below, there are some mannequins that come closer to the player with every blink of the eye.
Mannequins can’t hurt you… As long as you don’t blink 👁️👁️

The novel gameplay features are designed to encourage the player to use their eyes strategically and only blink when they are immediately able to defend themselves, such as by drawing a weapon.
It will take a little more time than originally thought before players can bring themselves to visit the world of “The Dark Pictures Switchback VR”. Due to the recent shift the launch will not take place until March 16, 2023 and thus several weeks after the market launch of PlayStation VR2. Regardless of this, the title continue to be available for pre-order on PlayStation Store.
