While the community’s commitment continues online to discover the many mysteries of the first Death Stranding 2 trailer, Hideo Kojima regains social media to illustrate the photographic experiments conducted by his team to push the graphics of DS2 and its upcoming projects ‘beyond the frontier of photorealism’.
In referring to his latest podcast Brain Structure, the father of Metal Gear and Death Stranding described the activities carried out by him and his team of designers and authors together with Mr. Nishiyamaexpert lighting director, and alla model and actress Shioli Kutsuna.
Kojima explains that “for make modern computer graphics even more realistic we invited Mr. Nishiyama to lecture and demonstrate to our artist team. It will be an experience that will be reflected in every game we develop from now on.”
The importance of this ‘non-videogame workshop’ held by Kojima Productions is further underlined by Hideo Kojima underlining how “it is always difficult to correctly express skin tone, the lighting of dark hair or the reflection produced by a face with features and eyes of Asian people. We will use the shots of these photographic experiments to reproduce the same images on a game engine in real time, we will exploit techniques never used in other video games“.
In a recent exchange of tweets with his many followers, Kojima suggested the presence of the Chvrches in Death Stranding 2, presumably in the double role of secondary characters and authors of one or more songs of the soundtrack of the highly anticipated post-apocalyptic adventure in development on PlayStation 5.
