The source of the Tomb Raider deal rumor between Embracer Group and Amazon has updated its information: Embracer Group did not sell the Lara Croft franchise to Amazon, but only allowed them to use their intellectual property.
This “lease” cost Amazon $600 million, twice the amount that Embracer Group used to buy all of its studios and intellectual property from Square Enix Europe, including Tomb Raider. When and under what conditions Amazon will expire the right to use the franchise is unknown.
Earlier, unconfirmed information also appeared on the network about Amazon’s plans to turn the adventures of the British tomb raider into a whole shared universe, which will at least include a future new game in the series from Crystal Dynamics, which will be published by Amazon Games, a new film about Lara Croft and a series about her.
