If you only want the game, you should look around in other PEGI countries or at resourceful retailers – or just buy the download version. Because even with buttons or touch screen makes Taiko no Tatsujin lots of fun, only the Joy-Con wobble feels imprecise this time too.
As usual, it’s all about hitting the red and blue note symbols exactly, while the basic range features over 80 Japanese feel-good songs from the speakers. In obligatory single rounds or online duels, you gradually unlock chapters of a somewhat simple but nice story and decorations for your character. The party mini-games of the predecessor have been disposed of, but there is now a band mode in which four players or AI assistants drum music tracks together, and the “toy fight”, which makes the events more strategic with a pinch of tactics.
