Celebrating the first anniversary of Dying Light 2, Techland has announced their plans for a new Dying Light 2 roadmap for 2023. The roadmap includes an update to combat, movement, and a new story expansion through the game’s second DLC.
Two anniversary events, named Bloody Anniversary and Dropkick Weekend, will give players a lot of interesting things in the coming weeks. Bloody Anniversary will run from January 30 to February 9, and Dropkick Weekend will run from February 2 to 9.
2023 will also see changes to Dying Light 2’s combat and movement mechanics. Melee combat will be overhauled, and parkour and traversal methods will also see some changes. Franchise director Tymon Smektala is also teasing a brand new form of combat coming this year.
If you want to fight the Infected not in close combat, but through other means, you will be fine with one of the additions to Dying Light 2: Stay Human, which we are currently preparing.
Dying Light 2 is known as a melee focused zombie game, so this could hint at the possibility of weapons in a future update. However, Smektala didn’t specifically mention weapons, and as far as we know, this new form of combat may be completely different from what we’re used to in the zombie game genre.
In addition to the event announcements, we’ll also learn a bit more about the second expansion to the game, which followed last year’s Bloody Ties expansion. This new expansion will be more story-driven and will feature references to the first Dying Light game. The DLC was actually shown in a new YouTube video, which you can find above.
