On February 10, 2023, our journey into a world full of sorcery and magic starts. Because then Hogwarts Legacy appears on the PC and the new consoles and we can finally experience what many of us have wanted since the first volume of the Harry Potter books: get a letter in the owl post ourselves and get on the Hogwarts Express. And expect a world full of magic and a hopefully excellent role-playing game.
While the anticipation of Hogwarts Legacy continues to grow for many of us, others are already halfway into the wizarding world. Get in the mood for magic, sorcery, trolls and the dark arts by delving into the magical world once again with a rewatch of all the Harry Potter films. Fortunately, they are available on pretty much all streaming platforms – albeit usually for a rental fee. Only with Amazon Prime Video are all Harry Potter films and even the first two parts of Fantastic Beasts included in the flat rate.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the start of the series and we not only get to know the three main characters, but also life in the wizarding world. And we meet the antagonist of the series for the first time: you know who! (Also available as a book or Blu-ray). Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets takes a look at some of the characters’ pasts and brings us closer to the origins of Hogwarts. Also, we learn that even in the wizarding world, not everyone is green and things like racism exist. (Also available as a book or Blu-ray).Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban now brings us closer to Harry Potter’s past. We learn more about his parents and the betrayal of them. For the first time, the supposed children’s stories touch on much more serious topics. (Also available on book or Blu-ray).Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire teaches us that it’s perfectly okay to run lethal tournaments at school. Also, the boundaries of our wizarding world are expanding as we meet other schools for the first time and see many wizards from other countries at the Quidditch World Cup. (Also available as a book or Blu-ray). Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix shifts the focus of the series away from school and more towards the battle between good and evil. We learn more about the Order’s fight against the Death Eaters and how it began in the first reign under “You Know Who”. Nevertheless, Hogwarts remains an important setting in the series. (Also available as a book or Blu-ray).Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince not only marks the end of an important character, but also the end of Hogwarts as we learned about it at the beginning of our journey. The fight between good and evil seems lost and the situation hopeless. Even Hogwarts more or less falls into the hands of the Death Eaters. But at least we learn more about the immortality of “You-Know Who” and now we know how to defeat him! (Also available as a book or Blu-ray).Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 resembles a road movie. Our three heroes are on the run and devise a plan to defeat evil. The burden of the Horcruxes becomes noticeable and the community threatens to break up. At the end there is the spectacular burglary in the magician’s bank Gringotts and the saddest death of the whole series. (Also available as a book or Blu-ray). Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 forms the furious finale. The Death Eaters were supposedly victorious and it comes to the final battle between them and the staff and students of Hogwarts. While wizard duels are fought on all fronts, Harry, Ron and Hermione must solve an important mystery along the way… and sacrifice themselves. (Also available as a book or Blu-ray).

For many fans of the series, the beast films are not quite as good. However, they give us another insight into the world of wizards and witches – a different perspective, so to speak. For our experience in Hogwarts Legacy, however, this should be of secondary importance, since the game takes place in the school of the same name. Nevertheless, we should also find some references to the films in the game. Incidentally, these are less about the beasts and much more about the rise of Grindelwald.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them centers around the story of Newt Scamander, the author of the textbooks of the same name, which also play a role in the actual Harry Potter films. In fact, it’s more about the conflict between the magical and Muggle worlds and the fanatics on both sides.Fantastic Beasts: Grindelwald’s Crimes then revolves around the rise of Grindelwald and the conflict between him and Dumbledore, who later became the headmaster of Hogwarts. It also threatens to culminate in a war between the wizarding world and the muggle world. Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore was boycotted by many fans of the series as Grindelwald actor Jonny Depp was thrown out of the series for what later turned out to be fabricated reasons . The film continues the conflict between Dumbledore and Grindelwald and also sheds light on the background of Albus’ family – including his brother.

In addition to the films and books, there is of course also countless merch that Harry Potter fans can stock up on, but I’m sure you know that. In addition to all the well-known things, we have also picked out a few things for you that are not so common – but pretty cool.
Of course, when we go to Hogwarts we have to choose one of the houses. True to style, we decide beforehand and wear our Hogwarts school robes (in Gryffindor, Ravenclaw or Slytherin) while playing. The Harry Potter stationery set including pens, envelopes and the Marauder’s Map – for a befitting answer to the letter from Hogwarts. Our special highlight is the table lamp of the potions. The seven potions that represented Snape’s logic puzzles in the first bands can be found on it. Thanks to various light modes, it can be used as a night lamp. And of course the book “Useless knowledge for Potter fans”! the series, while hardcore fans may feel more challenged as to whether they already know all the facts – for example, that Rupert Grint auditioned for the role of Ronald Weasley with a rap video.
