A few days before the release of the role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy on PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X & S and later also on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, the debate about JK Rowling flared up again. The creator of the sorcerer’s apprentice repeatedly attracts attention with transphobic statements. That’s why numerous players are calling for the Harry Potter role-playing game to be boycotted. Although Rupert Grint, in discussing JK Rowling, referred to the writer as an “aunt I disagree with,” he has recently expressed interest in returning as Ron Weasley. “I think if the timing was right and everyone came back somehow, I would definitely do it all over again,” he told fans in regards to a possible film adaptation of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The reason he gave was the deep connection with his film character. Rupert Grint is Ron Weasley and Ron Weasley is Rupert Grint? It seems so. “He’s a character that’s important to me. I kind of grew up with him and we’re the same person. I feel a lot of obligation and connection to him.” the British actor gives to understand. But in the last few days he seems to have changed his mind at least a little.
Harry Potter star recommends series and reboots
Rupert Grint has gotten to a point where he seems to consider giving another actor the role of Ron Weasley. He even goes so far as to explicitly support a Harry Potter series. “I would love to see Harry Potter in a TV series,” Rupert Grint said in an interview with GQ. “I think a series would work great.”
