Netflix not only wants your favorite movie or series to look good, but also to sound good. It is now getting help from Sennheiser for this.
Netflix has announced that the sound experience of films and series will receive an update. Users who have purchased a Premium subscription can also try it out immediately: the sound technology is immediately integrated into various films and series.
More specifically, it concerns a technology from Sennheiser, called AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio. That software solution should ensure that your stereo speakers sound better. The new technology can be tested immediately with no less than 700 different titles on Netflix.
Not a replacement for Atmos
Netflix currently offers a lot of series and films with Dolby Atmos audio. The only problem with this is that not every living room is equipped to play that sound standard. In other words, the majority of subscribers will never hear Dolby Atmos sound from the television’s speakers. In addition, not all content on Netflix has an Atmos soundtrack. Even when Atmos is not available, viewers can enjoy spatial audio with the new Sennheiser technology.
So those who have to make do with stereo speakers can now rely on AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio. You don’t have to turn on or adjust any settings yourself: you will automatically hear the better sound.
Some Netflix titles in which you can already listen to spatial audio are Knives Out: Glass Onion, Stranger Things, The Watcher and Wednesday. Also between what the streaming service will release soon is something with spatial audio. Both You, Your Place or Mine and Luther: The Fallen Sun will also feature the spatial audio.
