Together with the top smartphone Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung introduced more affordable Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus models. They received several improvements over their predecessors.

The displays of new products have not changed in terms of size compared to last year’s versions. The Galaxy S23 has a 6.1-inch screen while the Galaxy S23 Plus has a 6.6-inch one. In both cases, OLED panels with a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz are used. At the same time, the maximum image brightness has been increased from 1300 nits to 1750 nits, and tone mapping has improved to adapt to lighting conditions.
The devices received the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which should improve performance and energy efficiency compared to last year’s models. Evaporation chambers in phones are increased by 2 times, which should have a positive effect on performance and stability. The new products also use batteries with a capacity increased by 200 mAh: 3900 mAh in the Galaxy S23 and 4700 mAh in the Galaxy S23 Plus.

The main cameras have not changed. Like last year, the devices feature triple cameras that include a 50MP main module with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra wide-angle module, and a 10MP module with 3x optical zoom. But thanks to the new image processor in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the cameras should provide improved image quality. This year, the Galaxy S23 series of smartphones has a new selfie camera. It includes a 12MP autofocus sensor that now shoots HDR video at 60fps.
Some changes are noticeable in the design. Smartphones have lost their protrusion in the camera area. And to protect against bumps and scratches, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is now used. Case color options for the S23 and S23 Plus are the same lavender, green, cream and black as for the S23 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus smartphones are available for pre-order today. Like last year, the Galaxy S23 starts at $799 for the 8GB/128GB storage configuration. The Galaxy S23 Plus version can be purchased for $999 for a configuration with the same 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (double the S22 Plus). Ukrainian prices start at UAH 39,999 and UAH 47,999, respectively. Sales will start on February 17th.
