Microsoft is encouraging developers to use the new Microsoft Store Ads advertising tool, which will allow them to increase the position of their own applications in the Windows Store. In a blog post, the company talked about the utility of Store Ads, which allows you to “show your apps or games to the right customers at the right time.”
Microsoft Store ads have been a long time coming: the company announced it was going to begin pilot testing in May 2022, and in January released information about the rollout of the feature. Now a message for developers has been published in order to attract them. There is also a dedicated page dedicated to advertising. Ads will appear in the Microsoft Store for Windows app in search results and in the Apps & Games tabs.
The system resembles an advertising service in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. In its post, Microsoft talks about blurring the lines between mobile and desktop devices and trying to make the app distribution experience more similar to what happens in mobile ecosystems.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
For many users, this method may seem dubious – the search will return more applications whose authors have paid for advertising. At one time, Apple received advertising chaos by placing promotional offers directly on the pages of programs. The slots were quickly filled with dubious ads: gambling was promoted on the pages of apps designed to help fight gambling addiction; dating apps appeared alongside relationship apps, and adult content was advertised on the pages of kid-friendly apps. Apple had to restrict advertising for certain categories of software shortly after launch.
In addition to Microsoft Store Ads, the company is increasing the number of ads in the Outlook mobile app, experimenting with ad offers in File Explorer and in Windows itself. According to insiders, Microsoft also plans to show ads in free games for Xbox.
