Nick Fury is considered one of the absolute darlings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While David Hasselhoff played the director of the secret service organization SHIELD in 1998, Samuel L. Jackson took over the legendary role from 2008 onwards. In 13 productions so far, all of which are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and are therefore available on Disney Plus, the now 74-year-old Pulp Fiction star has won the hearts of fans. His last acting role for Marvel was in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Marvel’s Secret Invasion series finally sees Nick Fury reunited.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion: The Shapeshifters Take Over
In the Mavel Cinematic Universe, the Skrulls are probably what conspiracy theorists like to fantasize about when it comes to the real identity of Angela Merkel. Reptilian-like humanoids that can change shape. In the new Marvel series Secret Invasion, these shapeshifters, which we already know from Captain Marvel (2019), will probably play a bigger role.
Not much is known about the plot of the series, which will also feature Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. The teaser trailer, which was first revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, shows a neglected Nick Fury and many dark and dramatic scenes straight out of a spy thriller. However, there are already theories about what happened in Secret Invasion that are being floated by Marvel connoisseurs and experts.
What is Marvel’s Secret Invasion about?
As the title suggests, Marvel’s Secret Invasion, the new series on Disney Plus, will be about an invasion of Earth that takes place in secret. Shapeshifters like the Skrulls seem predestined for this. You slip into the role of politicians and other high-level decision-makers to manipulate people as they see fit.
If you take the comics from 2008 as a template, even the Avengers are infiltrated. The storyline of Secret Invasion should offer countless twists and surprises and rely on thriller elements such as conspiracies and mysterious events instead of pure action. The events are said to lead directly into the movie Marvel’s Thunderbolts, which is announced for 2024.
