In the financial documents of Square Enix there is also interesting information about Final Fantasy 14which it seems not have large-caliber expansions planned until at least 2024, given that no releases in this sense are planned for this year.
We’ve seen Square Enix’s financial results report declining revenues and profits, with various games including new IPs expected in the near future. Among these, however, there does not seem to be room for news regarding Final Fantasy 14, at least based on what has been reported so far.
However, there will be some minor updates, some of which feature new content: after update 6.3 released last month and which expanded the housing system in the game as well as introducing various new quests and trials, the update will arrive soon 6.35, which will add more quests and the deep dungeon Eureka Orthos, as well as more adventures.
Later, in the course of 2023, updates 6.4 and 6.5 will also arrive which will introduce further content for the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker expansion, but in any case these are additions to the current expansion, which will probably remain the center of attention still for a long time.
To see real new major expansions we will have to wait longer and probably reach 2024 at least, pending further information from Square Enix. On the other hand, the publisher’s idea is to support the game for many more years, so it’s only a matter of time before we see further large-caliber additions.
