After Respawn Entertainment postponed the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this week, there is now more information about the current projects at the developer studio. According to a Bloomberg report, those responsible have now discontinued a previously unannounced single-player game. A total of 50 people were involved in the title. However, the affected employees will not be fired. Publisher EA is looking for new positions in the company. Internally, the canceled game was known as Titanfall Legends. It would have been a first-person shooter with a story set in the Titanfall and Apex Legends universe. Mohammad Alavi was the game director behind the project. He is known for his involvement in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 & 2 as well as Titanfall and Titanfall 2, among others. Alavi has not been with Respawn Entertainment since early 2022.
It’s been over six years since Titanfall 2 was released. And it’s no secret that fans want another installment. It’s not considered one of the best offline shooters since Half-Life without reason and was also able to convince with a grandiose multiplayer mode. So far, however, nothing has been confirmed. While the discontinued project was set in the Titanfall universe, it may not have had anything to do with an official sequel to the game series. Instead, the shooter’s focus should probably be on Apex Legends. Only in the summer of last year was the studio still looking for employees for such a project.
What is Respawn currently working on? As previously mentioned, the team is in the home stretch of developing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The new date for the sci-fi title is the 28. April 2023. At the same time, Respawn is working on other projects in the Star Wars universe, for which there is no detailed information yet. We are also constantly working on new content for Apex Legends.
