The annual Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Awards will take place on February 23 D.I.C.E. Awards 2023. It will announce the winners in various categories and celebrate outstanding developers like the legendary Tim Schaeffer, who is about to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Shafer has been in the industry for over 30 years. He began his career in 1989 in LucasArtswhere he worked as a programmer Indiana Jones and the last Crusade and Maniac Mansion. Success and recognition came to the developer after his collaboration with Ron Gilbert over the dilogy Monkey Island.
Then Shafer was engaged in such projects as Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango. In 2000, he left LucasArts and founded Double Fine Productionswhich later became known Brutal Legend, Broken Age and two parts Psychonauts.
Schaefer’s company in the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences will be Todd Howard (The Elder Scrolls), Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid), Ed Boone (Mortal Kombat), Ray Music (Baldurʼs Gate), Sam and Dan Housers (Grand Theft Auto) and other prominent industry figures who managed to “create influential games that contributed to the development of an entire genre.”
