The advantages of OLED in a compact smartphone
The Samsung Galaxy S22 first of all adopts a rather contained size compared to other premium references located in the same price range. We are thus entitled to a 6.1-inch screen, which allows it to be slipped into a pocket. It is not as compact as an iPhone mini, but its diagonal will still be very pleasant for those who are reluctant to hold a device of almost 7 inches in their hands.
The main asset of this design is still this AMOLED panel, framed by very thin borders, and equipped with a Full HD + definition (2,340 x 1,080 pixels). This screen also benefits from an adaptive refresh rate that can go up to 120 Hz, which is the assurance of very good fluidity in the display of applications. Otherwise, everything is protected by tough Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass.
Solid performance, but average battery life
Regarding its performance, the Galaxy S22 is powered by an Exynos 2200 SoC engraved in 4 nm (and 5G compatible), which offers good power in multitasking. Powerful applications will run without a hitch. However, the results are less good in terms of graphics performance, and some slowdowns are to be feared on certain games, such as Fortnite. Android 12, with the One UI 4 interface, promises a very fluid user experience.
To keep all these beautiful people running, we will still have to deal with an average autonomy, since the 3,700 mAh battery will not allow the smartphone to last a full day with intensive use. We will console ourselves with fast charging (up to 25W) and wireless charging, which will be present, but we will have to make sure to keep our charger close to you, just in case.
A photo part that makes up for it all
The photo part allows the Samsung Galaxy S22 to catch up: thanks to its three 50 + 12 + 10 megapixel sensors (wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and x3 telephoto) nestled on the left edge of the smartphone. The device provides great versatility, with a special mention for the good level of detail spotted on the shots captured by the main sensor. In short, we have a good photophone here, even if its management of the dynamic range is sometimes uneven on several lenses.
