A Nerdizmo report reported by Resetera, focusing on information from some retailers, seems to indicate the cessation of the distribution of physical games per Xbox in Brazila country where titles for the Microsoft console could only be purchased digitally, from now on.
This is not official information, but the question could be plausible, considering that, in some markets, the decline in sales of games in physical format has become very substantial in recent years. To report the thing are various chains also of considerable importance in the country in question, such as Solutions 2 and Warner.
The trend is already visible with some notable titles coming out in the next period, such as Hogwarts Legacy, Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Resident Evil 4, which will be distributed only in digital format and not in physical edition with disc, within the Brazilian market, which however has removed the possibility of pre-ordering in this version.
Based on the testimonies, it seems that the Brazilian market on the Xbox front is almost completely centered on digital, for several reasons: an important element is constituted by the large diffusion of Xbox Series S, which is by far the best-selling version of the new Microsoft console on the market. Furthermore, the generally lower prices of the Xbox Store in Brazil, even compared to competing digital stores, help to push in this direction.
Finally, even the great success of Xbox Game Pass seems to have gradually closed the space for the physical games market, however pushing towards a purely digital use of consoles. In any case, we await any confirmation on the matter. On the other hand, we have recently seen that even in the UK, 90% of games sold in 2022 are digital.
