Paramount Pictures has set a release date for the sequel to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. The film, so far known simply as Gladiator 2, will be released on November 22, 2024, in time for Thanksgiving.
Ridley Scott is back to direct Gladiator 2. The film is written by David Scarpa and produced by Michael Pruss, Lucy Fisher, Doug Wick and Scott himself.
It is assumed that the main character of the film will be Lucius, the son of Lucilla from the first film. The role is allegedly claimed by Paul Mescal, who played in the drama series Normal People.
According to Deadline sources, Maximus, the protagonist of the first film, “made a big impression” on Lucius when he saved him and his mother from Emperor Commodus. The publication does not explain what the grown Lucius will do.
