Leonardo DiCaprio has a reputation for only getting involved in films with a certain standard of quality. You may or may not like the Hollywood star and hit producer. But apart from a commercial for sliced cheese, there was actually no total failure in his Hollywood career, which has now lasted more than 30 years. The Revenant finally won the long-awaited Oscar in 2015. And with the new version of Titanic, polished in 3D and HFR, we see the viewer’s darling again as the non-swimmer Jack on the big screen just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Leonardo DiCaprio, JJ Abrams and Stephen King are making a movie
JJ Abrams is certainly a lot more controversial when it comes to audience appeal. When they think of the seemingly endlessly drawn-out series Lost, many viewers will still mourn their lost lives. Also, the name Abrams is likely to evoke a mixture of rejection and regret in quite a few Star Wars fans. So many good ideas, such a disappointing ending.
Hats off to Stephen King. The creative power of the now 75-year-old seems unbroken. In addition to timeless classics such as ES, Der Dunkle Turm, The Stand or The Green Mile, he publishes novels and short stories that are celebrated to this day.
One of his more recent works is called Billy Summers and is about a professional killer who is about to retire. The book was originally intended to be filmed as a mini-series, but is now being adapted for the big screen by JJ Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot Productions. Leonardo DiCaprio, who is also on board as a producer with his company Appian Way, is set to take on the titular lead role.
