The Berlin development studio YAGER announced the start of the new season of The Cycle: Frontier. From March 29, 2023 you can start the third season of the game. We have summarized the innovations that the coming season has in store for you here. You can expect a new, dangerous monster called Howler, which will treat you without mercy. There are also so-called Free Loadout Runs for improved chances of survival on Fortuna III.
New Monster: The Howler
The Howler is the first flying monster in the game and, unlike other monsters, has no fixed territory. He will always change his location, even if he has two territories that he prefers – one in Bright Falls and one in Crescent Falls. However, you can also easily avoid this fearsome monster, because you can hear its shrill screams and distinctive wing beats from afar. However, if the Howler does get you into a fight, the developers promise that you can escape from the fight relatively easily. If you should take up the fight, you can prepare yourself in advance for a two-phase fight. When the Howler’s health drops below 50%, the monster will unleash a deafening scream, dealing massive damage to all fighters within range.

If you manage to defeat the Howler, however, valuable items await you that you can use to improve your quarters or produce other great items to make your survival on Fortuna III easier. Also in the campaign, the Howler will become a new important part that you have to research for the different factions Osiris, Korolev and ICA.
Der Free Loadout Run
In The Cycle: Frontier, experienced players are used to losing their entire inventory when they fail Fortuna III. The Howler could not make this experience any more pleasant. An innovation that YAGER is bringing to the way with regard to this mechanic is the Free Loadout Run. If you’ve fallen victim to a monster and need some jump-start, you can pick up a map and a free loadout at the Drop Terminal to jump right back into it. If you survive your next stay on Fortuna III, you can even keep your chosen loadout afterwards!
The idea behind this novel run is to allow players to have quick sessions without fear of losing their hard-earned items. This will also be a great jump-start on Fortuna III for new players.
