Since the first film in the Twilight saga was released in cinemas, in 2008, two teams of fans have formed: the first of them is the Edward team, which supports the romance of the vampire played by Robert Pattinson with the character Bella (Kristen Stewart). The second is the Jacob team, which supported the werewolf lived by Taylor Lautner, who was also in love with the protagonist. Until then, so good. But did you know that this clash had consequences for the cast of Twilight?
In a recent interview with The Toast podcast, Lautner, who has been in all five Twilight films, explained that his friendship with Pattinson has been strained by the rivalry between fans of both characters. “I would be lying if I said no,” said the actor when asked about the Team Edward vs. Team Jacob.

“I was so young. I was only 16 when Twilight came out, 17 in New Moon and Eclipse. I finished the franchise when I was 19. I was really young and, yeah, I feel like it was really weird to travel the world and being in different cities and having thousands of screaming fans taking your side or the other guy’s side,” he revealed.
He continued: “Like, we’re a team. We’re both just trying to make the best movies possible… it was a little bizarre, the competitiveness. There was no dispute between me and Rob, but having that reminder constantly, sure, had an impact [no relacionamento dos dois]”.
Regardless of the characters’ teams, however, the fact is that the films, inspired by the book series of the same name, by author Stephenie Myer, were a resounding success. Together, the cinematographic works grossed US$ 3.3 billion at the box office around the world, and still served as quite a showcase for the protagonists, including Lautner himself.
