February 5th, 2023 at 8:45 am by Claus Ludewig – The AI tool ChatGPT is currently on everyone’s lips. After Microsoft’s recent investment in the creators of the tool, the rumor mill is talking about deep integration into a possible Windows 12.
At the market launch of Windows 11 in October 2021, Microsoft boss Satya Nadella announced that this operating system version would receive a new, free feature update every year. Windows 11 is to be updated for ten years and is based on the technical foundation of Windows 10, which has been available since 2015 and will receive updates until October 2025. Although a possible Windows 12 is not yet on the horizon, the rumor mill believes that Microsoft will do a deep integration of Chat GPT in the process.
Microsoft: Investment in billions in Open AI, Chat GPT comes to Office
Microsoft recently invested several billion dollars in Open AI, the creators behind ChatGPT and Dall-E. ChatGPT and Co. are to be built into the Bing search engine and numerous Office programs in the near future, as Microsoft has already announced. Subscribers to Microsoft 365 can already have the AI Dall-E generate images in the Microsoft Designer and upload and download them to create.microsoft.com. ChatGPT, on the other hand, could be integrated into the Windows search, for example. Other possible uses include intelligent suggestions in Microsoft Outlook when searching for appointments or messages.
Around the CES 2023 technology fair, Windows boss Panos Panay had already given a small preview of the next Windows generation. AI is said to play a major role here, with the Redmond-based company working with AMD on a new Ryzen iteration with AI features. For example, the display of blurred backgrounds in video conferences via Microsoft Teams could be improved with AI technology. ChatGPT uses the Large Language Model, for example, to generate texts from training data sets on a topic based on probability calculations.
