Since the acquisition of Codemasters by Electronic Arts, Formula 1 has been moving again in the EA cosmos. After losing the rights to Sony in the early 2000s, both F1 2021 and F1 22 have been under the EA Sports banner. And far from the frequent criticism of the current F1 game, the company seems to be trying to show even more presence in the sport. An official partnership with the current Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has been announced. Verstappen was able to secure the title for Red Bull twice in a row.
Max Verstappen and EA Sports
“Whether it’s playing games with friends or staying competitive off the track, EA Sports has always been a big part of my life,” the world champion said in an official statement. “EA Sports is an icon for so many millions of fans and I’m proud to represent them in the 2023 season.” The company’s logo will appear on the chin of Verstappen’s helmet.
In addition, content for the EA Sports portfolio is to be created with the pilot. However, the news is interesting given the world champion’s take on Codemasters’ F1 games. So it’s no secret that the Red Bull driver is by no means enthusiastic about the titles or their handling. At the beginning of the corona pandemic, for example, he was one of the pilots who did not want to take part in the Virtual GPs.
The races, then held in F1 2019, threw F1 stars like Charles Leclerc or George Russell onto the track with streamers like Jimmy Broadbent or footballers like Thibaut Curtois. Verstappen mostly spends his time in the virtual cockpit in the popular racing simulation iRacing.

2023 should be exciting for EA Sports, especially in the football segment. After all, their next soccer sim will no longer be called FIFA. In addition, there are the annual publications of numerous titles on popular sports such as football, ice hockey or Formula 1.
