In preparation for the release of the first Fast & Furious X trailer, Universal Pictures is releasing legacy trailers for all previous films in the franchise. These trailers reimagine the promotional material for the films as if they were made today. Today it’s the turn of Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, where Sean (Lucas Boswell) and Han (Sung Kang) solve their problems with the only solution in their world – street racing.
In “Tokyo Drift”, Sean goes to live with his father in Japan to avoid the police after he is involved in a car accident related to his passion for racing. While in Japan, he becomes an enemy of Takashi, the city’s “drift king”, who also has ties to the Yakuza crime syndicate. Teaming up with Khan, Sean must find a way to defeat Takashi through crazy fast driving. Justin Lin first acted as a director and went on to direct the other four installments in the franchise.
Lin was originally set to direct the upcoming Fast & Furious X, but then pulled out of the project due to creative differences with Vin Diesel, who was recently seen on a new poster for the latest film. Following his departure from the project, Louis Leterrier was brought in to complete the film, which had been in production for only a week prior to Lin’s departure. Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham and John Cena are some of the actors who will be returning to reprise their roles from previous parts of the saga.
The first trailer for Fast & Furious X will be released on February 10th and will hit theaters on June 25th.
