A marketing image dedicated to the Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone and the game Genesis Impact has appeared on the network. It says the phone will deliver 120Hz frame rates in this game, a first for an Android phone.
Genesis Impact is quite a demanding game for mobile devices, especially for GPUs. It is not clear whether the ability to maintain such a high frame rate is a feature of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in the Galaxy Mobile Platform for Galaxy (it is a slightly overclocked regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2), or if it is due to some software improvements.
Either way, it’s a strong claim: if the Galaxy S23 Ultra lets you play other games at 120Hz, then Samsung might be able to pitch the phone as a handheld gaming console.
