With tracing, it seems that nothing much has changed.
Patch 4.01 for The Witcher 3 Remaster was supposed to improve game optimization. Apparently, this did not happen: players complain about the drop in frame rate after installing the update.
Notably, the frame rate dropped in non-ray tracing mode. Sometimes the drop can be significant: for example, YouTuber Lootward talks about a drop in frame rate of about 25%.
Similar complaints are found on Steam. Players with a wide variety of PCs, up to owners of the GeForce RTX 4090, complain about stuttering and frame rate drops, most often the non-ray tracing mode is mentioned.
The editor of WCCFTech also confirms the problem. With version 4.00, The Witcher 3 showed a frame rate of about 60-90 fps without ray tracing, after installing the update, the journalist saw a frame rate no higher than 50 fps.
Judging by the MxBenchmarkPC channel test, with tracing enabled, the frame rate after installing patch 4.01 remains the same as with patch 4.00. The developers of The Witcher 3 have not yet commented on the complaints of the players.
