Seattle, Washington, D.C.-based indie game developer Spiderweb Software announced that they are about to launch a Kickstarter campaign for Geneforge 2: Infestation, a full blown open source remaster of the 2003 game, on February 8, 2023.
Geneforge 2 will feature improved graphics, a new melee and shooting system, and new content including characters, storylines, and abilities. There are also several additional goals planned which, if completed, will fund new research missions and monsters to create to serve you.
Spiderweb Software will launch a Kickstarter with a total campaign goal of $30,000. The original creator of Geneforge, Jeff Vogel, will be the main developer of the project, working alongside talented and creative freelancers to bring his vision to life.
This is Spiderweb Software’s second Kickstarter in the Geneforge series following the successful funding of Geneforge 1: Mutagen in early 2020. Spiderweb Software aims to create an experience that feels fresh to existing and new fans alike, while still maintaining what made the series so so. popular to start with.
Geneforge 2, originally released in 2003, is an open-world role-playing game that lets players decide their own destiny in the world. The open game design of Geneforge 2 will remain at the heart of the experience, providing players with a seemingly endless number of ways to win.
You can use combat or diplomacy and cunning to change the world. Win the game without ever attacking the enemy, or conquer the land with your own army of custom-made mutant monsters. There is no right or wrong way to play Geneforge 2, and the remaster will build on that experience.
As with Geneforge 1, Geneforge 2 supporters will have the opportunity to participate in the development of Infestation. Spiderweb Software plans to add a powerful new monster to fight by your side based on feedback from sponsors. Geneforge (and other recent Spiderweb Software games) have been developed with fans over the years, and Infestation is no exception.
