Another major trading update for Stationeers is coming up, and it revolves entirely around who the merchants in the game are and what they should be trading. RocketWerkz is calling this update a “total overhaul” for traders, so if you haven’t played Stationeers in a while, you can jump back in to see what’s changed.
According to RocketWerkz, traders will now only trade in base commodities and will not trade in fully produced commodities. Merchants will now also sell and buy different kinds of items depending on what makes sense to them; for example, the alloy merchant All Alloys sells alloys as you would expect, but they will be more interested in buying ore than alloys.
To accommodate this change, RocketWerkz has implemented a brand new trading UI that should make it a little easier to see what you’re doing. The two new landing pad modules also allow you to load gas and water into the landing pad storage and sell them to traders.
This is the penultimate trading update for Stationeers; another one is on the way, which will “finish and polish the game’s trading cycle.” The merchants in this update will have different sizes and environmental requirements, which in turn will encourage you to build multiple landing pads so you can meet those requirements.
Stationeers is in Early Access on Steam. It’s a pretty hardcore space station sim where you’ll need to pay attention to things like the atmosphere, power management, and gravity systems; the developers themselves describe Stationeers as “an exceptionally difficult game”.
