Bandai Namco today has Tekken World Tour 2023 and Nina Williams for Tekken 8 announced! After Corona moved the last attempts to the internet, the Tekken World Tour returns to offline events. The multi-level system makes it possible to collect points for a ranking at official Bandai Namco events as well as at so-called “Dojo tournaments”. So if you feel called to do it, you can try to qualify for the grand finale anywhere in the world. You can find all information on the official website,
But there was also relevant news today for those who are not obsessed with tournaments: Nina Williams was officially announced for Tekken 8 with a gameplay trailer. Gone are the days when Nina fought in a wedding dress, now she’s out and about in a purple evening dress and leather jacket. The trailer already shows some combos against Paul Phoenix and Lars Anders. The latter serves as a dummy for their Rageart, which riddles the Swede with a few pistol shots. While guns are nothing new in the Tekken franchise, Nina seems to be using her pistols a lot now, even during normal combos. However, it is not clear whether you can also shoot full screen with it or whether it is just combo tools.
This brings the list of confirmed characters since the story trailer (we reported) to 9:
Anna Williams
Jack-8
Jin Kazama
Jun Kazama
Kazuya Mishima
King
Lars Alexandersson
Marshall Law
Paul Phoenix
If you want more information about the gameplay, you can look forward to a half-hour video with Katsuhiro Harada (Executive Director) and Kohei Ikeda (Game Director) with detailed explanations of the new system mechanic “Heat”. In addition, differences to Tekken 7 such as the omission of Rage Drives are explained. Also exciting is the introduction of recoverable health, where, for example, damage caused by blocks can be regenerated by your own attacks. A simpler control scheme called “Special Style” is also included again, so that beginners can also get their money’s worth.
Tekken 8 will be released for Playstation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC (Steam). A release date is still pending.
