There’s been a major leak at BioWare Studios. Insider Gaming shared the details of the upcoming Dragon Age Dreadwolf, including the Final Fantasy XV-like combat system and Destiny-like central area. And shortly after that, footage of the game’s alpha version appeared on Reddit.

According to several Insider Gaming sources, Dragon Age Dreadwolf is not expected to release in 2023. The game has not yet implemented all the planned features, character lines have not been completed, and the remains of the previous prototype, which was canceled in 2021, are still visible. It was then that the project moved from a multi-user direction to a single one.
However, in the current assembly, some elements of the multiplayer game are still “felt”. One of them is a central location, like in Destiny, where gamers can prepare for the next mission (and go to it through a mirror portal). According to the publication, the center will play an important role in Dreadwolf. The recruited characters will fill the location, and in it you can give them various equipment and modifications.
The combat system of Dragon Age Dreadwolf has been described as hack n’ slash, especially when compared to previous entries in the series. The battles are similar to Final Fantasy XV. The player will be able to jump, dodge and parry attacks. The two main abilities are the kick and the sword attack. Partners will not be controlled, but in the midst of a battle, the game will allow you to choose a skill that they can use.
We can look at the alpha version of the game thanks to a Reddit user under the pseudonym revanchisto. He received gameplay footage from a tester who moved on to another project. Unfortunately, revanchisto only posted a few seconds of the video – no more permission from the original source of the leak. The user indicated that the game’s combat system reminds him of God of War (2018), and the quality of the animation has increased significantly compared to previous BioWare projects.
By the way, according to the text in the corner of the screen, the video takes place at the headquarters of the Gray Wardens in Weishaupt. The player’s task is to get to the library. This location has been briefly mentioned in previous Dragon Ages and will make its first appearance on the screens. The character is an elf knight with a sword and shield and two companions: a knight and a dwarf rogue. On the way to the library, the player encounters enemies soaked in red lyrium, indicated by their attacks and red eyes, as well as a huge dragon.
Revanchisto also shared a screenshot of the character’s interface. It shows slots for armor, headgear, main and secondary weapons, as well as four slots for accessories (an amulet, a belt and two rings).
The release of Dragon Age Dreadwolf is expected no earlier than 2024.
