In an interview, the developers at From Software spoke about the goals being pursued in the work on “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon”. Producer Yasutaka Ogura emphasized the impressive boss fights in particular.
With “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon”, the long-lived mech action from the Japanese developer studio From Software enters its next round this year.
As part of the Taipei Game Show 2023, Yasutaka Ogura, the producer responsible for the new offshoot, gave a detailed interview in which he went into the playful elements of “Armored Core 6”. As Ogura explained, From Software is once again concerned with delivering a title that challenges the players properly.
“Our approach to the difficulty issue in Armored Core 6 is slightly different from other titles, as the most distinctive feature of the Armored Core series is the combination of parts used to customize players’ mechs,” Ogura said.
In “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” you are again faced with the task of continuously improving your combat robots in order to tailor them to the challenges ahead.
Boss fights require dynamic strategies
One of the highlights of “Armored Core 6” will once again be the boss fights, in which, according to Ogura, you have to regularly adapt your strategies in order to win in the end. Various gameplay mechanics are to return that fans already know from previous “Armored Core” games.
“Boss fights in From Software games often require close observation of enemy movements to spot the little clue so you know exactly when to attack and how best to approach. That’s certainly the case again in this title. As such, I’m confident that our users will find the boss fights extremely entertaining,” Ogura stated.
And further: “Due to the use of mechs, both the player character and the enemy characters have extremely dynamic movements. As a robot, their dynamism is matched only by the aggressiveness of their movement. In particular, the attack distance changes frequently, from near to far, then from far back to near. In that regard, the dynamic action of these fight scenes really serves to keep players engaged.”
