Thanks to the trailer of the new series, we know who lives underground.
The fourth episode of The Last of Us, based on the Naughty Dog game of the same name, has been released. After wandering through the countryside, Ellie and Joel, who got a car, get to the city – it seems even more difficult to survive here.
Ahead of the characters of the series is an acquaintance with a new group and a meeting with heroes familiar to game fans. As usual, we tell – with spoilers – about the most interesting events of the episode and the differences between the series and the game.
Beware, there will be spoilers ahead.
Joel and Ellie are still on their way to Wyoming looking for Tommy, Joel’s brother – he was seen at the radio tower. Tommy: Ex-military, he participated in “Desert Storm” and does not like to work alone, preferring teamwork.
Joel ended up in Boston thanks to Tommy: after the outbreak of the pandemic, his brother persuaded him to break into the quarantine zone with a small team. Surprisingly, it worked. In Boston, Joel met Tess, and Tommy joined the Fireflies and the brothers parted ways.
Joel still tries to keep an eye on Tommy – for example, he found out that at some point his brother left the Fireflies. They haven’t seen each other since, but Joel is confident he can find his brother. He is tenacious.
Ellie’s complete set of bad jokes
Why are mermaids not given a certificate? Because they have tails. I did not sleep all night: I kept thinking where the Sun had gone. And then it dawned on me. Why did they give the scarecrow an award? For success in the field. An untranslatable joke about hereditary diarrhea flowing through jeans: the words jeans (jeans) and genes (genes) sound very similar.
Ellie and Joel are ambushed in Kansas City: something has happened to the local FEDRA, and the residents are not particularly friendly. Joel was almost killed, but Ellie remembered just in time about the gun that Bill and Frank had taken from them. Impressed, Joel even allowed her to keep her weapons.
By the way, once upon a time Joel with Tommy and Tess themselves arranged such ambushes in order to survive.
Kansas City is full of its own problems. At some point, the inhabitants of the city took power into their own hands, but some people, dissatisfied with the change of power, went to the partisans. Among them are Henry and Sam, whom the new government really wants to find.
After a failed ambush, Kathleen, the new leader of the city, is certain that Joel is working for her enemies. It is necessary to find and kill all uninvited guests.
And something very big wants to break out of the ground into the city.
Joel and Ellie do meet Henry and Sam. They take the main characters warm: it seems that the sleeping Joel still did not hear when the glass he scattered crunched under the feet of the guests.
How was it in The Last of Us?
In the game, Ellie and Joel were ambushed not in Kansas City, but in Pittsburgh. The city was controlled by a group of Hunters who dealt with the military and FEDRA, and not by local residents, as in the series.
The game version of Ellie killed the man who attacked Joel in the flooded hotel. Moreover, for Ellie from the game, this was exactly the first murder, and Ellie from the series kills people not for the first time. Although, perhaps she was referring to the slaughtered infected from the previous series.
Sam and Henry in the game did not live in Pittsburgh, but were ambushed in much the same way as Ellie and Joel. In the series, they seem to be local residents who have not found a common language with the new city government.
And one more thing
A couple of decades after the apocalypse, moss-covered cars still have gas. Ravioli also feel great. Away from the cities, it is not the infected that should be feared, but people. Joel is deaf in his right ear, because he shoots too much. If you don’t want to go deaf, use a knife. It turns out that Ellie is traveling with a collection of bad jokes in her backpack. Kathleen’s gray-haired subordinate is played by Jeffrey Pearse, who voiced Tommy in the original The Last of Us. There are very interesting magazines in Bill’s car: now Ellie knows a little more about guys. The fall of human civilization clearly pleased the bison: they bred again.
Please note: the fifth episode of The Last of Us will be released not on February 13, but on February 11.
