“Everspace 2” has a PC date. But it’s also the consoles’ turn this year. While the release period for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has been roughly limited, players on PS4 and Xbox One are left empty-handed.
Open-world space shooter Everspace 2 will leave Early Access and be a regular PC release on April 6, 2023, developers at Rockfish Games announced today. The makers also pointed out that console players will also be supplied this year. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will follow this summer, along with a fully optimized Steam Deck version.
Maximum Games will be distributing a physical deluxe edition of Everspace 2 for consoles, with pre-order options and further details to be announced on April 6, 2023. The originally announced versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are no longer planned and will not appear accordingly.
Regarding the discontinuation of the last-gen version, it says: “Our vision for Everspace 2 has taken us beyond the limits of the previous generation of consoles. Our team spent a lot of time creating an experience that would satisfy our fans on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. But downsizing Everspace 2 to these platforms does not reach the level of quality that we want to deliver.”
Refunds are allowed
The developers want to get in touch with the backers who invested in console copies during the Kickstarter campaign to ensure there is interest in the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. A refund will be offered to players who do not have access to the new consoles.
The upcoming launch on the PC will be celebrated with a new trailer, which fans of “Everspace 2” and all those who are interested in the shooter can watch below these lines.
