Apple could expand its iPhone range by launching the iPhone Ultra in 2024. This new model first announced to replace the Pro Max variant could ultimately be unprecedented. Its price could make it a very high-end iPhone positioned in a whole new segment.
The iPhone Ultra would be released at the same time as the iPhone 16 in 2024 It should differ from the iPhone 16 Pro range by its technical sheet
Mark Gurman, the famous Bloomberg journalist, has returned to his previous prediction that Apple would rename the iPhone 15 Pro Max to iPhone 15 Ultra. In his latest newsletter, the journalist claims that there have been internal discussions within the company to launch a more premium model. The iPhone Ultra would therefore ultimately be the fifth model in its range of flagships.
iPhone Ultra: A new, even more premium model
If that came to fruition, the iPhone Ultra would become Apple’s most expensive model. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at 1479 euros and can cost up to 2019 euros. The iPhone Ultra would therefore position itself in a new segment still unexplored by Apple.
In addition, the iPhone Ultra could be launched in 2024, at the same time as the iPhone 16 range. Thus, the brand would only release four new models this year, namely the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

There’s nothing concrete on the spec sheet for the iPhone Ultra yet. But Mark Gurman is counting on a more powerful SoC, a better photo module and a micro-LED screen to differentiate itself from the iPhone Pro range. Although it seems like a far-fetched idea, the iPhone Ultra might lack physical buttons.

Interestingly, it’s hard to imagine how the addition of a fifth iPhone model will reflect on Apple’s strategy.
